Wacky Wednesday with the ACLU

Alright, I am riled.

My blood is up again over the ACLU, which has, to my mind, become a Stage Three Cancer, aggressively invading and threatening the United States of America and by extension, my family. If you don't want to get into some heavy, inflammatory reading today (and I don't blame you, as we've been saturated with dark or heavy news lately), scroll down and read about Chihuahua's. :) Otherwise, join me in pondering this and see if the ACLU doesn't end up riling you, too.

I used to think that this organization was just a semi-harmless collective of eccentric, somewhat misguided people with strong anti-establishment, liberal-leaning ideals.

Wrong. The ACLU is, in fact, off the deep end. This organization has become rotten, infected, and diseased over my lifetime. It is a cancer, seeking to completely decay and kill America as it was built, intended and lived by the majority of our citizens - Elephants and Donkeys, Christians and Jews, Catholics and Buddhists alike. The ACLU seeks to aggressively destroy what we stand for - and our right to do anything about it.

In continually educating myself about this topic, I have concluded that the minds at work within the ACLU structure must - MUST - be off their collective rockers. I find an unyieldingly zealous obsession with creating a perilously backwards society, where child molesting is a "protected" right but parents cannot legally protect their children from those molesters. Where abortion is federally funded but parental consent is abolished along with federal funding for abstinence teaching and promotion. Where traditional Churches would be prohibited from receiving federal tax-exempt status that would be guaranteed to Neo-Nazi and Satanic groups.

Find this all just the slightest bit NUTS? Me too - it's shockingly looney. In fact, it reminds me of the Dr. Seuss book, "Wacky Wednesday", in which everything is askew: shoes are on the wall, people do not have necks, cars are driving with bananas for wheels, and so forth. The "ACLU-envisioned America" is one in which we are all living in a perpetual Wacky Wednesday state. The sky is green, the water is purple, and the world is upside down and sideways.

The ACLU has become poisonous. In its rabid promotion of Anti-American, Anti-Christian, anti-Family, anti-God agenda, any righteous cause it may have once accidentally stood for, is devalued entirely. The ACLU presents a foul affront to the American collective: our traditions, moral core, foundation, practice and ideas of right and wrong. It seeks to undermine the innocence and protection of our children through attacks on such institutions as the Boy Scouts, our churches, public displays of religion, and seeks to undermine families, religion, God, and freedom. This kind of lunacy is, in all seriousness, NUTS. It is also alarming.

It is Wacky Wednesday all year long with the ACLU, with the added benefit of ample law degrees and a ferocious superiority complex.

I am being a bit dramatic here, certainly. But those who honor intelligent thought and freedom for ALL people need to be informed and educated about this danger eroding us from within. The ACLU is out of control and weilding far too much destructive power. Any organization who openly NAAMBLA but not the Boy Scouts, seeks to restrict every day Americans from exercising their freedom of expression and assembly whenever the cause is not "ACLU' material (Minuteman Watch, Pro-Life, Christian and Jewish gatherings, Crosses and Menorrahs on public display, etc.) is not only WRONG, it is SCARY. And it should make us MAD ENOUGH TO DO SOMETHING.

Now, I personally am taking on this fight. I am just one person. But I am convicted, intelligent, dedicated, and on FIRE to arrest the tentacles of this cancerous group from infecting more of this precious nation of people I love. The ACLU has a new foe in me, as of today. And they have picked a hell of a fight.

Think I am overstating, over-reacting, or fear-mongering? Let's take a look-see at what the ACLU stands for and thereby promotes as public policy, shall we?

That pretty much scares the Bejeebers out of me.

Please, I implore you, read. Become educated and informed. Seek complete, unfiltered information about this organization. Peel away the political and other hype, and get to the REALITY of what the ACLU stands for. Then join the fight wherever your conscience falls. I personally am now fervently investing myself in the growing movement to reduce the ACLU to a simpering Whine from the West with limited legal or political power. As it should be. The ACLU does n ot stand for Americans OR our Civil Liberties. It stands for promoting unilateral Agendas which are offensive and gravely destructive. I add my voice, my prayers, my support, my cash, and my time to all those who seek to shed continual bright light on the activities of this dangerous organization and in hopes of watching the cockroaches scatter.

Join me.

OK, I am no ACLU fan, and I mean that, but what you put out as facts are really over-the-top exaggerations, clearly slanted to promote a very specific point of view. I read the whole post, waiting for one factual incident as an anecdote of what you were unhappy about. Instead, at the end, you cite clearly right-leaning authors as your source of information. It's hard to take your argument seriously. Sorry.

Hey there. Welcome!

Well, hmmm. Being a 'right leaning' source does not alter the information presented as any less credible, simply adds context which may offend certain readers. Facts are facts within any presentation - sometimes despite the source. I do clearly understand having a preference for a certain type of packaging or presentation (I do too!), and those sources I cited are tend to harmonize with my logic and world view to a larger degree than others I could have chosen. Slanted? Probably. I know of no intelligent person who does NOT have strong opinions and thus find themselves slanted on issues of importance like these. Therefore not credible? I don't follow that logic. If 100% objectivity is required for credibility, I will never measure up to that criteria. About such things as this, I cannot pretend both sides of the argument are equal.

If mine fail to meet your standards, please seek education & information about the ACLU from your own chosen sources. If you dislike or distrust the places from which I glean, PLEASE go find out about the ACLU in more personally favorable locations where your find more satisfaction with the context and thus validity with my argument.

The sources I cited for my "over the top exagerations" (that made me smile), while in line with my thinking, which tends towards the conservative, also contain accurate FACTS, substantiated by other sources including the ACLU's own websites, position papers, legal filings, briefs, and history. The cite list on this blog is not comprehensive, as none of this information is difficult to track down. To quote Mulder, "the TRUTH is out there", and in the case of the ACLU - is it is especially readily available to all those who seek it. Truth is not limited to right-leaning or left-leaning authors, who should not be used as an excuse not to confront the reality of what the ACLU has become. Frankly, they are an alarming enough bunch to compel me to stand against the consistent attacks the rights and liberties of people and institutions whose positions they don't agree with (Minutemen Watch, Removing the 10 Comamandments, Gauntanamo Bay Prisoners, Boy Scouts of America, etc). I find that the ACLU has made a pattern of promoting the liberties of some while attacking the liberties of those with dissenting opinions and life pursuits that differ from the idealized versions in their own heads.

Maybe the best thing to do at this point would be to post all of my gathered ACLU sources ~ would that be helpful? While not a debate forum by any means, this is a serious topic, my position is both immovable and well-grounded. PLEASE educate me with substantive information you may have to offer to the contrary of anything I've cited, as knowledge is power and I am forever open to being sharpened.

Cheers,

Had to also post this exerpt from Star Parker of Naples News, which is an even more to-the-point assessment of the ACLU's policy as it pertains to religious "freedoms"

"The truth of the matter is that the ACLU crusade against religion is a crusade against the core religious and moral values that have essentially been the software of the success of American freedom. The smokescreen under which this operation takes place is an illusion that for every religious symbol purged, we produce a more neutral and fair country. This is anything but true. Nature abhors a vacuum, and the purge of one value amounts to its replacement with another. In this case, traditional values of right, wrong and personal responsibility are displaced by relativism, materialism and, ultimately, the product of both of these, nihilism."

Philosophy.
An extreme form of skepticism that denies all existence.
A doctrine holding that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated.
Rejection of all distinctions in moral or religious value and a willingness to repudiate all previous theories of morality or religious belief.
The belief that destruction of existing political or social institutions is necessary for future improvement.
also Nihilism A diffuse, revolutionary movement of mid 19th-century Russia that scorned authority and tradition and believed in reason, materialism, and radical change in society and government through terrorism and assassination.
Psychiatry. A delusion, experienced in some mental disorders, that the world or one's mind, body, or self does not exist.

Here are some links from the ACLU's own websites:

1.) On removing school prayer - April 5, out of Louisiana:
http://www.aclu.org/ReligiousLiberty/ReligiousLiberty.cfm?ID=17963&c=139

2.) ACLU against vouchers for private religious schools, March 2001: http://www.aclu.org/ReligiousLiberty/ReligiousLiberty.cfm?ID=7272&c=140

3.) In continual crusade to remove the Ten Commandments from our public places and courtrooms. July, 2004: http://www.aclu.org/ReligiousLiberty/ReligiousLiberty.cfm?ID=16102&c=38

4.) ACLU stands against protecting the liberties and LIVES of the unborn. Calls the bill, which passed, "undermining reproductive rights". Hmmm - reproductive rights vs. the right to LIVE. Guess that liberty only applies by ACLU standards if you are a liberal voter, or a criminal on death row.
April, 2004:

5.) ACLU stands against abstinence-only sex education programs. Apparently, only the sex education the ACLU deems appropriate for MY children pass the mustard of "protected liberty". December 2004:
http://www.aclu.org/ReproductiveRights/ReproductiveRights.cfm?ID=17108&c=30

6.) Repeal the ban on Federal funds for college for drug offenders. So let me get this straight - it is OK to give my tax dollars to druggie kids for their college, but not my ONW kids for their private school? WHAT THE HECK kind of logic is that??

I don't dislike or distrust your sources. My real issue is there are no "facts" in your presentation whatsoever. I read the post, like I said, curious about the facts. Your opinion is strong, and interesting, but it is your opinion - sourced against someone else's opinion. Your argument would be stronger - my whole point - if you explained to us what are the facts behind, for example, "The American Civil Liberties Union Supports: ... Automatic Entitled Probation but OPPOSES Prison Terms for Criminal Offenses". Your third post here gets more to my objection. And, I'm sure you will be a little surpised, I agree with a good portion of what you lay out. I am in favor of school vouchers; I agree strongly with the quote from the Naples News, that the inclusion of religious symbols in our public places, is multi-culturalism at its best, and presents a true teachable moment to our children. What I have trouble with - and I see this too often in these arguments - is the statement of biased opinions as fact. Show don't tell. If you want to convince me - or anyone - of something, present facts. Someone else's opinion does not a fact make.

Thanks for posting. How cool to be in dialouge with someone I don't know about something so meaningful to me.

I hear your point.

I think my biggest mistake, many times, is assuming knowledge of a topic on the part of the general public simply beczuse I care about it, have spent time researching and develing into it. I need to realize the fallicy in this. Not everyone has read the ACLU briefs. Not everyone is watchgin with careful eye their involvement in the Minuteman Watch on our Mexican border. Not everyone is up till 1:00 am poring over the ACLU's legal briefs, frutrated to no END with the lack of consistency in their legal wranglings.

When I post on my blog, it is generally not to start a debate, although I am nothing it not strongly outspoken on most topics. :) Like I said - it is more of an inspiration to others to get involved with the subject matter as a whole - to pursue information about the ACLU on our own and then make meted and measured decisions as our individual consciences and minds lead. But you're right. This is an open -to-the-masses forumn, and I need to be able to offer substantiation for my grouchiness with the ACLU in more "bare bones" factual ways that can be more easily accepted and digested.

I assume knowledge of these facts before creating my post around them. It seems I need to revisit this: state the facts FIRST and then feel free to get as grouchy as one would like.

Thank you for contributing and caring. I am MOST encouraged that we agree on much of the ACLU's nonsense and feel humbled and excited to be shaped by your challenge to reposition my manner of attacking the Whine from the West so others can more readily see the journey I have taken to establish my position.

Welcome. Hopefully, the anonymous title will not be a permanent fixture. You will always be welcome here.
