Man Of The Year

On our date night tonight, we screened "Man Of The Year". While it is neither a cinematic masterpiece and it's plotline is full of moth-sized holes, the underlying concept and ideology invigorated me. An apolitical political comedy. The first and last 20 minutes made the dragging midsection forgivable. And it made me ponder running for President someday, myself.

Hey, stop it.

I seem to recall a certain Jesse Ventura, Sonny Bono, Clint Eastwood, and the Terminator in political office. Stranger things have happened.

I hope to see this movie but it will have to be other than date night because my wife, LaWanna, is set against it. She is turned off by Robin Williams since seeing some of his coarse humor. I think, in spite of his lack of a filter, he is the funniest man on earth. Thanks again for recommending "Rumours of Another World". I read it deliberatly and now my wife is reading it. I was so impressed that I bought another Yancey book, "What's so Amazing about Grace". It is also powerful so far.

Well, I recommend it because it gets you thinking and motivated on one level, and it is entertaining. There is some course humor there (Robin Williams is a dead giveaway of that), but nothing that detracts from the hope it allowed me to float that someday, our country will emerge from the current political hostage situation our two-party system represents.

:)

Roxy - I support your wife here actually. I have refused to go see movies that I may have benefitted from, but would have been so distracted by my sentiments about a certain actor or my abhorrence to certain types of launguage or references that it the greater benefit would have been lost on me entirely.

:) Sorry!!

And YOU ARE SO WELCOME for the "Rumors" recommendation. I love Yancey's work and it has truly led me to understand that we, though we are by grace saved, are still operating on this earth beneath the veil. "Powerful" is a GREAT description. I am so glad you are enjoying it as I did - and do, since I tend to re-read his books several times in rapid sucession.
