flying pigs

“If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are.”

"Drinking beer is easy. Trashing your hotel room is easy. But being a Christian, that's a tough call. That's rebellion."

~ Never met Alice Cooper and couldn't tell you the name of any of his music (he is a singer, right?), and he tends to resemble an electrocuted, angry Mime in most of the internet photos I took a gander at. But he got at least two things dead-on right.

"No More Mr. Nice Guy"
One of the greatest rockers of the 70's.
His first comment could be expanded way beyond rock stars: actors, media, bloggers, etc. (With the exception of George Clooney, of course):D

LOL Scott!! Thanks for the education - my husband was simply appalled at my lack of knowledge about all things rock when we first met (esp. Queen, whose music he reveres), and has worked to fix that steadily since. :) I'm like his little music project - and he is mine, because there is value to Mozart and Bizet, too...

For me, after Journey, everything went downhill.

:)

AMEN to everything you said before the words "George" and "Clooney". *grin* Thank goodness that man does manage to get on the right side of a cause once in awhile because he is a grand actor and I enjoy his art. :)

I come from the land of Alice Cooper (Phoenix). He is well known here for being a Christian (I believe he goes to the biggest Baptist church in town) I'm not vouching for whether he is truly Christian or not, but he does seem to do and say things that might convince even me.

Alice led a very hard life for quite some time. He became a Christian probably 12 years ago now. His recording work has suffered for his higher cause, but really, does he care??? He's got the best thing out there...Jesus.

Alice is alright. His change is obvious. (And he's doing commercials now for Longhorn Steakhouse. Have you seen this? Grandma's friend, Alice....and it's Alice Cooper. ROFLOL)

I'm glad its not up to me to decide if he is or isn't a Christian and that he doesn't have to convince me that he is.

Tracy and Le,

There are a lot of wolves in sheeps' clothing out there, claiming their own version of Christ's message as truth. This guy doesn't seem to be doing that. In fact, I think his message may be all that more pwerful because of his unique audience.

I say again, "unique" audience. :)

I absolutely LOVE Alice Cooper. He is an intellegent, articulate, compassionate man.

My favorite Alice moment was when he was in Wayne's World. HILarious!

Hey Mama!

Sometimes I believe our own expriential perspective directs us in ways we sometimes cannot even see. Do you relate? Living where I do in California has afforded me near constant community with a virtual stampede of celebrities. The VAST majority of whom espouse the liberal, and usually uber-liberal, point of view on everything from faith to fertilizer.

I hear no groaning, moaning, or even muted commentary from all but a smattering of voices wondering why fame born of acting or vocal talent is qualification enough to grant an individual undue power over the political, environmental, or social realm we all share equally. And should have an equal voice in.

On a personal note, I *loathe* the word, "chickenhawk". Hate it. You already know this, but I could not resist mentioning it again since it overcomes me everytime I read it somewhere. I reminds me of that giant bird on the WB cartoon and I have no clue what it means in real life, other than to infer something not nice about whomever it is directed to.

And who the heck is Ted Nugent?

Copper is laughing and shaking his head at me as I write this. I guess I am just hopeless when it comes to certain genres of music.

OK, now see - that is the best description of what it means to use the word "chickenhawk" I have ever heard.

The attributes you describe as a "Chickenhawk", I would just call overzealous cowardice at the expense of others, perhaps.

And, because you know I can't leave THIS alone - a DRAFT? Good gracious, no way is that a necessary tool. I suggest that instead, we equip our soliders better and commit not to send them into multiple international fronts at the same time. Are not our involvements and investments in collective international bodies of government meant to alleviate us having to patrol the planet?
