Pirate Envy

September.

I decide to get a jump start on my Christmas shopping and buy a huge bag of sweaters, shirts, matching elements and accessories. The gifts were purchased at Labor Day sales (SMART) for my darling husband and other members of my family (SMART AGAIN).

Moving along to December. Three days before Christmas, to be exact.

I cannot remember for the life of me WHERE I PUT THESE GIFTS. I have been searching the house for 48 hours, looking for these massive bags of items I so carefully hid away (SMART). So other people in the house could not discover them. (SMART). Not so that I could NOT find them (NOT SMART).

I have effectively dismantled our closet, the attic, the nooks and crannies in the kitchen, and the storage shelves in the garage searching for something I apparently have hidden far too well. Over the last two days, I have developed a fond appreciation for the value of buried treasure maps. If only I knew a pirate.

Any suggestions?

OH I have so done that!!! Usually with summer clothes at the end of summer sales for the next summer....and then I find them 2 summers later when everybody has outgrown them.

I agree w/Ms. Thang.....prayer is an amazing thing. Then look in the suitcases and under the floorboards.

I've done this so many times its not even funny. :-P What about under beds or in chests? In the backs of the under-sink cabinets in the bathrooms? Unused trashcans? Back-yard storage sheds. Did you literally bury them in the yard somewhere? LOL

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Lachen -- whether you find the missing presents or no. :)

Retrace your steps!

1) Go back to each vendor from whom you made a purchase and pick up another item just like it only this time have it gift wrapped.

Before you pull into the driveway you will remember where you left 'the goods'.)

2) Take the newly purchased, gift wrapped presents into the house and place them neatly under the tree.

3) Place the just-discovered-where-I-hid-them gifts in the vehicle and drive them to the nearest Salvation Army thrift store.

Your family will love you, some strangers will love you, you will love yourself, and God will love you.

Works every time.

Hi Lachen-may God Bless you and your family on this Christmas night. Tell your kids that their presents are hidden all over the house, and watch them go into 'full detect mode'.

Well, as of the afternoon of the 26th, the gifts I so carefully ensconced remain quite nicely tucked away...

So here's to hoping that three things occur prior to next Christmas:

1.) I learn to WRITE DOWN where I hide gifts

2.) No one I bought items for changes sizes so everything still fits next year

3.) I actually FIND said items in time to give them to their intended recipients... one year later.

Thanks guys! Through prayers and thorough searches, I was still unable to find these things. I am convinced it was not meant to be this year. And it is kind of fun to know there is a hidden treasure in my house somewhere, just waiting to be discovered.

Merry Christmas!!

Hi Lachen-the only places left to look would be those more accessible during the Summer than they are during the Winter. Stuff in the garage that wasn't covering the hiding place then, but you have gotten used to being in place now so that you have a 'blind spot'. Good luck, friend. I am searching for the receipt for a radio-it's beautiful, works great...but is FM only, and my family listens to AM. Ooops.
