Note to my Mom's gardener

Regardless of your nationality, our language barrier, or whatever other factors precipitated your unbelievable action ~ when I ask you to please not use the gas blower because my son is napping, it does not mean, "please take this opportunity to put your hand on my rear end and squeeze."

Gardener, meet the business end of Lachen's Anger.

Man, that was an incredibly disconcerting experience. I came away from what should have been a benign, everyday conversation feeling violated, livid, sad, and a little bit bewildered. I even pondered for a brief second whether or not I had anything to do with his aggregious trespass by inviting it? Right. I mean, I know my pajama pants, T-shirt, sleepy hair and unbrushed teeth were irresistably alluring, but c'mon...

Ugh. What a way to begin the day.

I hope you reached out and 'touched' him. Does he know your hubby is a gendarme?

Thanks for the comment on FDW. That fellow has gone over the edge and I seem to bring out the worst in him.

What a freakin' pig! Does her work for a service or is he independent? I'd consider sending a message to his wallet - maybe it would teach him to keep his hands to himself.

Ugh--lovely. Cause yeah, you were all over THAT idea.

Ick.

I have no idea where some men get the notion in their head that women are open to that kind of behavior. It baffles me, really.

Perhaps you could send Copper out there in uniform to scare him into keeping his hands to himself?

*groan* That happened to me at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco last year. . . we were in a large crowd of people and some dumb guy decided he'd take advantage of the cramped space. I wanted to yell and scream and hit him, but was too horrified/embarrassed/shocked to muster any words. In the end he just walked away, and I wish I would have said or done something, 'cause he's probably still doing that to unsuspecting females everywhere he goes. :P

So sorry you had to start you morning out that way! :(

what???? oh my goodness! what a jerk! there is no excuse for that...even if there is a language barrier, i think bootay grabbage speaks the same in every language. I had that happen to me once in a crowded space, (new years eve 2000) and the guy was drunk. I turned around and screamed at him but aparently he was three sheets to the wind. Shoulda kicked him in the groin, but he was alot bigger than me, and scary. Anyway, I'm sorry about that...it was your moms gardener? did youtell her? fire him! gah.

Thanks guys! YES, this ridiculous creature reached out and grabbed my behind and squeezed it. It was UNPLEASANT. I was calm but VERY loud and direct. I removed his hand with mine and told him in no uncertain terms that we do NOT treat women like that in this country and that he will keep his hands to himself and NEVER TOUCH ME OR ANYONE ELSE INAPPROPRIATELY AGAIN or I will call the police.

Mom called to report him to his gardening company in hopes that he will be dealt with on a professional level. But I still feel this weird sense of inner feefall and ugliness. It is such an awful feeling to be physically violated, even in this small way.

I have not told Copper about this yucky incident yet - he would be unneccesarily angry, frustrated, and burdened to know about what happened to his wife while being unable to do anything about it from 250 miles away (my Mom's house is a good 4 hour drive from ours). When we go home tomorrow, I'll tell him all about it. Fun conversation, that.

I'm sorry to hear about this incident, and I'm glad that not only did you respond correctly, but that you mother is following up with his workplace. If he did that to you, what would he do to someone's teenaged daughter who was alone?
Have a better day, Lachen.
